Our Mission – Pollinator Conservation through Bee Education

We specialise in education, workshops and incursions for all ages and levels of bee knowledge. We share our passion for all pollinators, from the importance of our amazing European honey bees and the critical part they play in preserving our food web, to our equally important native stingless bees and Australian native solitary bees.

Our Bee workshops and incursions and delivered using a variety of learning styles, including hands on activities, visual presentation including our live observation hives and culinary honeycomb tasting.

Some of our hands-on activities include things such as bees wax candle rolling, honey pressing, bees wax lip balms, mini native solitary bee hotel, hybrid native solitary bee hotel and seed balls.

Our Bees in schools program involves teaching student inside actual live European honey bee hives, learning about pest and disease control, hive management and honey production.

Our team has a background in education, learning support and disability inclusion, and all of our Bee Workshops and Incursion are flexible and tailored to the needs of the individuals attending our sessions.

Hands-On Learning with Australian Native Bees

At Urban Bee Education, we believe the best way to inspire curiosity and environmental stewardship is through hands-on learning experiences. Our workshops give children and adults the chance to connect directly with Australian native bees and understand their vital role in pollination and biodiversity.

Through interactive activities, participants can:

  • Observe native stingless bees safely in a live hive

  • Learn how Australian native solitary bees use bee hotels and natural habitats

  • Build bee hotels and seed balls to support pollinators in local backyards

  • Roll beeswax candles and make natural balms while learning sustainable practices

By engaging multiple senses—seeing, touching, smelling, and tasting—our programs make bee education exciting and memorable. This experiential learning approach is ideal for schools, childcare centres, OSHC programs, community groups, and even corporate sustainability days.

Our focus on Australian native bees, including both stingless bees and solitary bees, highlights the unique role these pollinators play in Australian ecosystems. Participants leave not only with practical knowledge but also with the confidence to take action in protecting pollinators and supporting local biodiversity.
